Welcome

The European project MUSILIB, funded under the Erasmus+ programme, offers an expanded multi-lingual and multi-cultural library for the children who participated in the MULTILIB project (which led to the creation of a multicultural e-library with traditional and contemporary children’s stories in 12 different languages, including 6 languages spoken by immigrants communities).

MUSILIB will expand the MULTILIB library by one traditional and one contemporary story from Finland and from a migrant group living in Finland. MUSILIB aims to add another cultural element to the MULTILIB e-library : music, which is an indispensable element of culture. Each story in the e-library will be accompanied with a soundtrack which will be produced by professional musicians using a traditional instrument of their own culture. A children’s multicultural music instruments library will also be created, which will contain photos of the instruments, sound files payed with each instrument, audio file with the name of the instrument in its original language, and story of each instrument written by a children’s book author.

The MUSILIB project appeals to everyone who has to deal with or who is interested in cultural awareness and cultural understanding. However, it mainly addresses primary school teachers who need to teach in multi-lingual and multi-cultural classrooms. The ultimate target group of the MUSILIB project are the primary schools children. Children will be active participants and develop a sense of ownership towards the project by creating themselves stories, which they will also dance and sing. Combining different forms of art in the creation of stories will help children to express themselves more effectively, which could also be a crucial benefit for the migrant communities.
